IMRt CIWG -Legislation and Regulation in Maintenance

SIRF Roundtables presents
Industrial Maintenance Roundtable
Common Interest Workgroup
Legislation and Regulation in Maintenance

Hosted by Visy

SIRF Roundtables in New South Wales currently comprises in excess of 40 progressive organisations that are willing to network and share their best practices in a peer to peer learning environment, specialising in Operational Excellence and Industrial Maintenance.

The ‘Common Interest Work Group’ (CIWG) events are for operators/technical specialists looking to discuss with peers, specific topics they are working on, in and around their field of excellence.

In 2001, Visy undertook the construction of a $450 million Kraft paper mill in Tumut, New South Wales.

The mill has an advanced water usage system, with near-zero levels of effluent leaving the site.

The mill also boasts a renewable energy generation facility which provides half of the plants energy needs.

10 years later, Visy built Stage 2 on the same site - a second Kraft paper mill bringing the total investment to Tumut to almost $1 billion.

More details can be found in this link Visy Tumut.

Our Topic; Legislation and Regulation in Maintenance

There are many requirements for asset maintenance and certification that organisations need to comply with, both at State and Federal level.  Non-compliance can lead to heavy penalties but more so is the need to demonstrate duty or care. These regulatory frameworks are there to protect people both, members of the public and employees alike.  There are inherit benefits to performing maintenance as per industry standards, as these are generally the body of knowledge for industry and specific asset types and will generally provide good or best practice to maintaining asset types.

Visy will lead us in the discussion on the challenges and issues of compliance with respect to their maintenance practices and how they align these strategies with the relevant regulations, standards and government requirements.

Attendees will also discuss:

  • Overcoming the challenges of interpreting these documents
  • How to ensure compliance is maintained
  • Engaging with governing bodies

Come along and join in the discussion.  The day will also entail a site tour of the impressive Visy mill.

This event is ideal for:
Maintenance managers, safety specialists, maintenance strategy developers and those personnel involved in compliance associated with maintenance.
