Maximizing Maintenance During an Outage

Maximizing Maintenance During an Outage

Maximizing Maintenance during an Outage

MaintenanceWhether planned or unplanned, outages create a focus on getting everything back to operating normally as quick as possible. People know what needs to be done and know how to do it. But does the critical path thinking make sure we get the most out of each outage? What about ancillary work that could also be done by separate crews, or even led by maintenance but acted on by operators? How can we maximise the jobs undertaken at an outage, so we don't have to do another planned (or unplanned) shutdown for other maintenance later?

For most sites the planning of maintenance during an outage can be an extremely difficult task, with equipment needing replacement or unpredictable major repairs; is it possible to reduce the costs during an outage? Things can often take longer than expected making the outage last longer than planned - how do we take this into consideration and have planned work we can carry out if/when this becomes a reality?

Join your peers as we discuss ways to maximise the maintenance undertaken during an outage. We may discuss such points as:
Waiting
  • Planning methods
  • Visual job boards
  • Backlog preparation
  • Reducing costs
  • Communication of maintenance tasks
