Maintenance Policy and Strategy

Maintenance Policy and Strategy

Maintenance Policy and Strategy

Strategy Vs Policy

At this event we will discuss and compare individual company's interpretations of maintenance policy and maintenance strategy. What's the difference?

Policy is a set of rules which we must operate within. For instance, for repairs on a given piece of equipment, do we repair the parts or discard them and replace them completely? Which parts do we keep in stock? Which ones do we contract a supplier to keep in stock? Which ones do we buy from China? Which ones only come from the OEM?

Strategy, however, is how we will plan and conduct maintenance to fit into the organisational roadmap. Decisions like using internal employees or external contractors, how to use PM or Predictive maintenance, planned shutdowns, and even having different maintenance regimes for individual machines.

The space where these two collide can be a headache! Letting one influence the other and bouncing back and forth between them will eventually lead to an optimized system. Curious as to how other businesses handle this? Come hear what others have been doing, share where you are at, and talk about ways to improve in this important area. At this event we will discuss things like:
Maintenance Strategy
  • Separating Policy from Strategy to make decisions faster and easier
  • Engaging Operations in the Strategy discussions
  • Removing Operations from the Policy decisions
  • Measurements to check for optimisation
  • Lots more!
