Improving Tool Time

ImageRecent studies in a number of asset intensive industries have demonstrated that maintenance "tool time" (actual time doing beneficial work) can be as low as 20%! While companies who are doing things right, are achieving maintenance tool time as high as 65%.

SO what are they doing that gets them this significant difference? Their workforce is no bigger. Their plant may be smaller, but that would have no effect on the correct maintenance. So what are we doing elsewhere? It can be as simple as doing the right thing. doing work for work's sake is a waste of resources and time.

Is it all just FMEA's and RCM? they certainly play their part but why not learn from companies that are doing well in this area? Would that be a huge benefit? Some of the points we may discuss at this event are as follows:
  • How much is too much?
  • RCM, FMEA and RBI
  • Correct PM
  • Time vs Money
  • Doing the right work
  • Continuous Improvement
  • Creating the right environment
