The SIRF Resource Efficiency Program 2010 is a practical and hands-on workshop series designed to support integrating Resource Efficiency into your business management and supply chain.  It is particularily focused on integrating Resource Efficiency into the culture of the participating organisations.

Big ticket engineering innitiatives and plant renewal do lead to increased efficiency and these gains can be compounded by the non-engineering improvements.

Improvements like:

  • improving the way equipment and buildings are operated and maintained so that excessive resources are not consumed
  • building awareness that all defective products and rework don't just waste materials they also waste the energy and water required to produce them
  • gaining greater understanding of what customers want and what parts of what you deliver to them is waste

Lean implementation support

Establishing a Continuous Improvement culture is difficult. Even when people have the best of intentions it is easy for the urgency of meeting customer demand to put improvement initiatives on the back burner until there is enough time.  The problem is there is never enough time unless you do the work necessary to establish a controlled system.

LEAN Rt are a specialist training provider working to help our customers to establish production systems that are under control and cultures focused on continuous improvement.  We work primarily with manufacturers and deliver a program incorporating certificate training in Competitive Manufacturing.

LEAN Rt is the training arm of SIRF Roundtables and were established in 2003 to develop a training program for the then newly released qualification Competitive Manufacturing.

Boral Go into any workplace and ask people what the major constraints to being more productive are. Most will say poor communication and lack of information.  A key element of lean is to improve communication between management and workers and between functional areas. "The improvements we have gotten out of the toolbox meetings are paying tenfold. Our numbers are getting better each month and our overtime is going down."

Visual Management at home "I have found the training really inspiring, I now look at things/work that I do in a different light and put the information from the course into use." The Visual Management Scoreboard that Kym has created at home is exceptional.  It's used to record and manage the various activities of her busy family who get together and plan their schedule with a weekly "toolbox talk"on Sunday evenings.
