Brinelling of Motor Bearings

A common problem with motor bearing mentioned was False Brinelling. This occurs were a motor sits stationary in a high vibration environment. The micro movement between the bearing rollers and race removed the protective lubricant and eventually marks the bearing. These marks become a stress concentration to trigger further bearing surface damage. A typical situation where this occurs is where a motor is installed near highly vibrating equipment or during transport if the motor shaft is not constrained.
