View Presentation Media:RCA_Implementation.pdf

Melissa Cameron in her role as RCA coordinator for SIRF Roundtables has had the opportunity to observe plants with best practices in implementing proactive maintenance strategies and defect elimination. She will discuss options how to implement an RCA program to provide your organization with an effective, systematic and consistent process of eliminating defects and minimizing equipment failure risk.

Informal Presentations

This meeting had shorter more informal presentations with small group discussion. This approach is used very successfully by the Knowledge Management Roundtable. The process takes about 20 to 25 minutes with a number of presentation/discussion tables going on at the same time. At the end of the 25 minutes, everyone picks another presentation to join. Great for interaction, learning and sharing ideas.

Implementing Change Management and Work Culture Improvements

Stephen Moore from Australia Post will discuss some of the challenges and successes in driving positive change in maintenance against established practice and culture. He will discuss the approach used for setting strategies, objectives action plans and review.

Feedback from MERt (Manufacturing Excellence Roundtable) Maintenance CIWG

Peter Charlton from the NSW Manufacturing Excellence Roundtable ran a very successful series of Common Interest Workgroup meetings with his Maintenance & Engineering Members. Peter presented and discussed some of the highlights from the meetings.

Implementing PMO Based Maintenance Strategy Improvements

Port Waratah Coal Services (PWCS) implemented an RCM based strategy a number of years ago but decided their existing maintenance strategies needed a review and upgrade. They selected PMO as the tool/process for the review and put an implementation team of experience tradesmen/technicians together for the project. Geoff Kable and others from their implementation team will talk about the approach PWCS has taken and their success so far.

Garden Island Naval Facility Site Tour

Image:Garden_Island_8.jpg

After lunch on our 12th March meeting, a site tour of the Garden Island Naval Dockyards was organised. Garden Island has a fabulous location on Sydney Harbour close to the heart of the city. As well as having historical significance, it is still an active dockyard servicing and maintaining the Navy fleet. The tour included close access the naval vessels at berth and in dry dock and a visit to the underground pumping station for the dry dock. Greg Gocher from Thales was our host the afternoon tour.
