Richard from Rio Tinto indicated that routine vibration monitoring tends to be carried out on drives 37kW and above. Sydney Water indicated that they tend to carry out routine vibration monitoring for motors 10kW and above at a 3 monthly frequency.
An example of a vibration monitoring win was where high vibration was detected on a motor and it was diagnosed that the hold down bolts were loose and were retightened before any damage was done.
